The San Juan County Administration Building. The San Juan County Growth Management Plan is a comprehensive plan that was developed to provide long-range guidance of development in the unincorporated parts of the county. The plan addresses all functional elements that bear on the physical development of the area, including: land use, environment, water and wastewater, county facilities, transportation, housing, and economic development. The plan encompasses all geographic parts of the private unincorporated county area and encourages continuing cooperation with planning for the cities of Aztec, Bloomfield, Farmington, the Navajo Nation, the Bureau of Land Management, and other federal agencies.
In developing the plan, San Juan County sought substantial public involvement to assure that the plan would be properly considered and have broad support. Two town hall meetings, ten sub-area meetings, and twelve Blue-Ribbon committee meetings were held over the course of a one year period in an effort to gain maximum input. In addition, over 2,800 responses were received out of 35,000 surveys mailed to county citizens regarding growth issues in the county. If you have any questions regarding the plan or you would like to express a comment, please contact 334-4582. READ MORE ABOUT THE GROWTH MANAGEMENT PLAN....
