San Juan County Adult Detention is committed to the principles of basic human rights and dignity afforded all incarcerated persons as embodied within the constitutions of the United States and the state of New Mexico. The Adult Detention Center is responsible for the operational mandates of the county jail as entrusted by the citizens of San Juan County to provide safe, secure and humane housing to all persons remanded to our custody. Our staff philosophy reinforces the professional standards and principles established by the National Institute of Corrections. Through concerned leadership, our dedicated staff promotes core values of honor, courage and commitment. These attributes incorporate effective operational controls while ensuring accountability and responsibility by all. Additionally, our Fellowship Coordinator works with all faith-based ministries to provide spiritual guidance while collaborating with community organizations concerning outreach programs that are relevant for inmate needs.

This is accomplished by: · Ensuring our residents are provided respect and dignity as afforded to all citizens of the community. · Ensuring our stake holders, community residents and staff are provided adequate security in order to maintain the highest levels of safety. · Exploring professional resources to achieve and improve our primary purpose for a secure and safe environment. · Ensure appropriate training programs are readily available to accommodate the multi disciplines necessary to maintain operational readiness with a highly trained professional staff.

The San Juan County Adult Detention Center is a full-service county operated facility. Court commitments are held by the facility for no more than 364 days, as well as those persons alleged to have committed a crime and are unable to secure bond or other forms of release. Our facility serves all law enforcement agencies and courts having jurisdiction.
