Mission

San Juan County Corrections Division is responsible for the operation of the county jail system and its supporting functions. Under the auspice of the Corrections Administrator, the Corrections Division controls the operation of the Adult, Pre-Trial Detention, Juvenile, DWI and Methamphetamine detention sections. The Division is entrusted to providing safe, secure and humane housing to all persons remanded to the custody of San Juan County. Secure detention needs are accomplished by providing housing for pretrial detainees and sentenced inmates in a system of modern dorm and secure cell configuration. All inmate confinement is supervised with direct, indirect, roving foot patrols and technology based video supervision. Juveniles are provided supervision standards that meet or exceed all statutory requirements established by law. All facilities and sections are managed by policies and procedures that regulate operational tempo and hold inmates accountable for their behavior. Our system is the product of Objective Inmate Classification which determines the offender's risk level. This secure system includes responsible management with a proud history of collaborative support from our judicial courts and all law enforcement agencies. Our community's faith based initiative provides spiritual support with practical "life skills" examples, while our correctional staff reinforces professional standards. Professional principles of the National Institute of Corrections accompanied by the New Mexico Children Youth and Family juvenile standards serve to continually guide the management and operation of our facilities. Concerned leadership traits along side responsible management and properly trained staff promote the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
