Mission

The mission of the San Juan County Housing Authority is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable living environment free from discrimination to all San Juan County Residents.

Vision

Our vision is to encourage residents to become financially independent. Continue to counsel and provide assistance to residents wishing to obtain home ownership.

San Juan County Housing Authority Building.
What does the Public Housing Authority do?

When the Public Housing Authority (PHA) has determined that the family is eligible to participate in the housing choice voucher program. The family chooses a decent, safe and sanitary unit to live in. If the owner agrees to lease the unit to the family under the housing choice voucher program, and if the PHA approves the unit, the PHA will enter into housing assistance payments (HAP) contract with the owner to make monthly payments to the owner to help the family pay the rent.

When participants meet their responsibilities they are insuring that many more low and moderate income persons in San Juan County will have the same opportunity you had to find quality housing at an affordable price.

Applications are accepted on Mondays and Wednesdays only, at 7450 East Main, Suite C, Farmington, NM  87402. The waiting list for assistance is currently three (3) years long.  No preferences.
