Mission

Two interwoven priorities define San Juan County Corrections Division:

* Safety to the public and professional excellence.
* Our obligation is a planned approach toward leadership based on honor, courage and commitment.
In this environment, inmates learn from staff in ways that are truly unique.
This plan inspires staff to:

* Think critically and communicate clearly;
* Recognize connections between accountability and responsibility;
* Work independently and in partnership with others;
* Develop a perspective on detention, social and cultural issues;
* Appreciate the importance of community safety and professional excellence.
Our staff is prepared to seek knowledge and self-evaluation. As a result of these efforts, the San Juan County Corrections Division is confident that our community and the facility are secure. This reaffirms the importance of personal integrity and self-worth which inspires accountability by all.

FACILITY SERVICES

Front view of the San Juan County Juvenile Services Building. The Juvenile Services Center is a multi-faceted facility serving all levels of care for adolescents and their families in San Juan County and in some cases for the Navajo Nation.

Levels of care range from an assessment center for prevention and intervention, emergency shelter care, intensive outpatient care, residential treatment, probation supervision, functional family therapy, alternative sanction programs, judicial services, and drug court programs, to secure detention.

The primary function of the Center is to facilitate collaboration and communication among all governmental and non-profit agencies working directly with an adolescent population. By providing this service, we have reduced duplication of services, promoted system efficiency, facilitated access to services for youth and families with the goal of a successful outcome.
