San Juan County Reopens with Operations Modified for COVID Safe Practices


Aztec, NM—San Juan County will reopen to the public, with operations modified to continue to protect the public and employees on June 1, 2020.


In response to the newest Public Health Order, anticipated to take effect on June 1, San Juan County buildings will be open to the public starting at 7:00 am Monday, however, appointments for services are highly recommended. The change is in line with the anticipated ‘Phase One’ step in New Mexico’s reopening plan.


The hours of operation for county services will remain the same. All departments will continue to observe COVID Safe Practices.  For questions, please call the County switchboard, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm at (505) 334-9481. Online services are available at


Riverview Golf Course has reopened on a normal schedule, McGee Park remains closed to events.


Solid Waste stations will remain open on a normal schedule, with the exception of four stations on the Navajo Nation. Shiprock, Sand Springs, Lake Valley and Upper Fruitland transfer stations will close to abide by any weekend curfews, currently in effect until June 7, 2020.
