FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Fatal Motorcycle Wreck Under Investigation in San Juan County
San Juan County, NM — The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred on July 8th near the intersection of Aztec Blvd (Hwy 516) and Main St. (Hwy 550) in Aztec, NM.
On the morning of July 8th, 2025, deputies were aware of a motorcycle driving erratically at speeds in excess of 120 mph across multiple areas within the county, ending in Aztec. Deputies were never in pursuit of the motorcycle, but the driver made multiple hazardous attempts to avoid law enforcement.
At approximately 12:02 pm, citizens reported a motorcycle crash in the intersection listed above. The driver, Dominic Villarial, age 29, was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported by EMS to San Juan Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to investigate. Preliminary findings suggest speed was the primary factor for this crash. We never want to see people get hurt or killed by bad behavior on our roads and send our deepest sympathies to the families of Mr. Villarial.
The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office asks the community to obey traffic laws, including speed limits, to help us keep our roads safer for everyone.
