San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting
San Juan County, NM – The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday, March 10th and involved an officer from Farmington Police Department. The incident around 10:00 am after a 911 caller reported an armed subject near Hines Road in Farmington, NM.
The suspect was declared deceased on the scene. The identity of the suspect is not being released at this time. No other individuals or officers were injured.
“Law enforcement officers have to make split second decisions daily in situations that most people will never have to face” said Sheriff Shane Ferrari. “This officer deserves a fair investigation and that is exactly what we plan to do.”
The incident is under investigation by the San Juan County Regional Officer Involved Shooting Task Force and led by the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. More information may not be available until that investigation is complete. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
