Calling All San Juan County Businesses to Help Clean Up Our County

Addressing the litter problem in San Juan County is a shared responsibility. We need governmental entities, community organizations, schools, residents, and businesses to step up and do their part to prevent litter.  

San Juan County’s Public Works the is partnering with businesses throughout the county to help beautify San Juan by participating in the Beautiful Business Pledge. 

Join the Beautiful Business Pledge and distinguish your business as an environmentally responsible and conscious business leader. Show your employees and customers that you are actively invested in the health and beautification of your community.

The program encourages businesses to become Leaders Against Litter by adopting simple best practices to reduce and prevent litter and beautify their business. Businesses will pledge to adopt regular and ongoing best practices to keep their parking bays clean and litter free by conducting regular litter removal, place trash/ash receptacles outside the business entrance, keep their trash dumpster area clean and care for their lawn, landscaping and areas around their business. 

Partnership Overview

By signing the Beautiful Business Pledge, you agree to adopt the following best practices to prevent litter.

1. Take 10 minutes routinely to pick up litter from your parking bays and/or around your business (a daily/regular habit of this is best practice!)
2. Place trash/ash receptacles at your business storefront or at transition points.
3. Maintain a clean dumpster by keeping the lid closed and the area around the dumpster is free of litter and debris.
4. Maintain your business lawn and landscaping.
5. Participate in and/or promote community improvement activities.
6. Create a Culture of Cleanliness for your employees and customers by displaying San Juan’s Beautiful Business marketing materials and promoting your participation on your social media channels and website. Materials provided by San Juan County.
7. Not required, but highly recommended, to upload photographs to document your participation and share on social media and with your San Juan Beautiful Business contact.

By signing the pledge, you will receive:

1. A Beautiful Business Pledge window cling to proudly display.
2. Social media posts and graphics to proudly promote your participation.
3. Consideration for a Beautiful Business Award.
4. Listing as a partner on the Clean Up San Juan website.
5. A litter picker and pail to help you and your staff keep your business clean
6. Inclusion in a press release issued by San Juan County.
