Home MenuReserve Deputy Sheriff Program
Our Reserve Deputies contribute their time, skills, and training to support law enforcement in situations where an extra trained individual is necessary. With a vast jurisdiction, it can take some time to get additional units to a call – time we don’t usually have in a crisis. Having a Reserve Deputy riding along with a full-time certified deputy allows peace of mind and another layer of safety and protection with an extra set of eyes and hands during domestic violence situations, complex calls, and potentially dangerous incidents.
Our Reserve Deputy Program is a way for people in San Juan County with a heart to serve to volunteer their free time to enhance public safety, for retirees to find a sense of purpose without the harsh schedule of a job, and for individuals who are interested in a career in law enforcement to get some real-life experience in the field.
If you’re considering becoming a Reserve Deputy, schedule a ride-along with a deputy! This is a great way to meet a deputy and see firsthand the kind of calls you could be responding to. Request a Ride-Along here!
